Is It Smart To Buy A New Home In Today’s Market?

When we talk about getting energy “off the grid”, we’re talking about an alternative power source to bring electricity into your home. Power companies create electricity through huge generators. That electricity is then shipped through wires across long distances and into individual homes by power poles and wires. Most people who want power contact their local utility company. That company then sends someone out to connect the wires from the electric poles to their home.

We cannot drive to work; cannot watch tv, listen to music, cook, online, light up our house at night and etc. This is because we won’t be supplied electricity if no more fossil fuel on earth! ( how to generate electricity as our power plant is based on fossil fuel to operate? ). Maybe you think that such a day will not exist, but let me tell you: “Petroleum and natural gas will run out in less than 50 years time and coal will run out in 100 years time”.

In recent age, wind energy was mainly used for nothing than milling flour. But, the emergence of technology shows the unlimited benefits one could draw out of wind energy. It is now becoming the main thrust of the government because of its environmental eco friendly and its accessibility. It can be installed in places where there is no connection to the main grid. Now, not only the wind energy is becoming widely accepted as alternative source of energy, solar energy and hydropower as well.

The next frontier is Water Turbines. These are similar to wind turbines and are placed in the water currents. The current spins the turbine to produce electricity. This technology dates back to the Romans. Nova Scotia has a turbine producing 20 MW since 1984. La Rance barrage in Normandy puts out 240 MW and was installed in 1966. In 2007 New York City tried installing turbines in the Hudson river. The current was so strong it was snapping the 20 foot blades. In 2010 using what they have learned a new project is under way to install 30 underwater turbines in the East river between Queens and Roosevelt Island. The completion will be sometime in 2011 if all goes according to schedule.

In many countries tax breaks or credits are available for those who install power supplier electricity generation equipment. In the USA, the government and IRS have issued tax breaks or credits for DIY home solar panels for years as an incentive to reduce bulk energy consumption and focus people on sustainable energy sources. No doubt these incentives will increase as the need to move away from carbon intensive forms of electricity generation increase.

Those are really good ways to save some money on purchasing gas, what if you still desire to drive? Gas is very expensive at present that people are keen to do anything in order to save money, by all means identify what you are going into, or else you will finish up losing extra money, destroying vehicle or else suffering accident.

Don’t forget solar lighting. It is very cost effective to buy and use solar lights for indoor and outdoor use. You can light a waklway, garden, entryway, garage, shed, boat dock, or anywhere that needs light. You can use solar lights in your house, camping, or in an RV. Once you get a solar light, you just need to charge it in the sun. Most solar lights also have automatic switches that turn them on at dusk and off at dawn. Look into use the power of the sun.
