There are many scaremongers out there who will tell you that search engine marketing is just a fad. Many of these people write blogs, and like most mainstream media, they’re written with a scarcity ‘sky is falling’ mentality.
No, I don’t spam my way through the forums, plastering links all over peoples’ blogs. Instead, I sift through the latest blog postings and choose one or two that I feel comfortable commenting on. These forums allow me to link my username directly to the site of my choosing, which happens to be my blog. And since I am now a member on some of these top ten discover new sites, my content has an immeasurably good chance of catching traffic. And what did I pay for this promotion? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Signup is free. Posting is free. Links are free. All it takes is a little bit of effort and a little bit of ambition.
Working at home can make you feel isolated. When you want sympathetic support, the perfect place to find it is on a home business forum. There is a huge number and variety of sites and forums for home business owners, and the support and understanding is invaluable. You will find others who have had comparable experiences and who will happily share ideas that they have market tested to keep you from having to reinvent online blogs the wheel.
Clean up. When your mother said to clean your room, she had a reason in mind. A clean room or work area does wonders for maintaining your focus and jump starting your creativity.
First, make a checklist. I know some of you hate doing lists but let me tell you that it’ll make your job easier. A good example is this friend of mine who was sending invitations for his son’s birthday party. He kept telling me that he had a nagging feeling that he forgot someone, good thing he had a list. Guess who he forgot? His dear mother-in-law. Anyway, some of you may say that checklists are a pain to make. But believe me, they’re a great asset to any party planner.
The second thing to keep in mind is that you have to value the person’s time. Do not make your contest too challenging or too much of a time drainer because people will not participate. A good rule of thumb is to keep it under 5 minutes in terms of the other person’s time commitment to enter your blog contest.
I am not saying that you have to incorporate all of these elements into your life, but finding even two or three can have a major impact on your life in a very good way.
